R&B Money Podcast Reveals a Huge Content Marketing Hack. You'll Be Surprised What It Is.

Updated: Jul 26, 2023

What does content marketing have to do with the R&B Money Podcast? Everything!

So, I'm watching the “R&B Money" podcast this morning and Ryan "Double Diamond" Toby is the guest. He's talking about how there was a bit of an unspoken rivalry between Usher and Justin Timberlake when he worked on the record "Superstar" sung by Usher (at the 1:47 mark of the show).

At that time Justin Timberlake was on top of the R&B industry. He was featured in a Rolling Stone article on Dec 25, 2003, titled “The New King of Pop.” Talking about how Justin "traded in his teen beats for R&B swagger." Some would say he achieved this status by copying a style/formula perfected by Usher.

But SaDon....what does any of this have to do with content marketing?

Tank, The Valentine, and Ryan revealed a super successful but easy to duplicate Content Marketing Strategy that can seriously improve your chances of success immediately. Plus save you a ton of time and money at the same time.

Thank you @rnbmoneypod, @therealtank, @jvalentine1. and @ryantobyryan for the inspiration and your insight.

Now let’s talk about Content Marketing!

Most content marketing consultants are trying to create brand new concepts and original ideas but honestly this is the fastest way to fail! Why? Because new and completely different is hard to sell.

The fastest way to succeed is to create content you know people want to watch and things you know people want to buy, based on pre-existing data created by your competition.

This is not cheating! And you don’t need to be 1st to be the most successful or the best.

Can you imagine if “Five Guys" or “Chick-Fil-A” let the fact that McDonalds and KFC existed stopped them from opening?

Now here’s how you make money doing what's already been done….

  1. You can be innovative. Take what someone is doing, find the flaws or shortcoming and fix them. Or make it for a specific subset of the market. Or just change the price point and put your own spin on it. Then sell it to a similar audience. Like say Raycon headphones? Shout out to @RayJ

  2. You fill/find a void in the marketplace. R Kelly was once the king of R&B, primarily because of his sex music. But when he stepped away, Tank stepped right in with smashes like "When We, Savage, Dirty, F$cking Wit Me, and the latest F$ck You Slow." It works because love making music never goes out of style and is always in demand!

  3. You put out your content/products when your industry leader is taking a break. Don’t go head-to-head. It costs too much, and the risk is too high. Let your competition come out 1st, and once they start to die down or run out…boom here you come with “videos, ads, shorts, reels, podcasts and special sales”.

Huge Bonus Alert! The same algorithm that your competition built will now feed you and your content to all their customers as suggested or because you watched content.

Remember: Step one in the “Seven Gets” (My 7 Step Process to turn Free Social Media into Cold Hard Cash) is to get attention!

People love R&B music, so Justin made R&B music. Now once he had his own fan base then he branched out into pop and country. But to start out he went where the money was.

The great thing about “content” is…it can be used to sell items 24/7/365 and to millions of people at the same time.

Now imagine what could you accomplish if you used this content marketing strategy to get your business in front of more of your ideal customers? Alot, right?
